Our History
San Joseph Elementary School is situated at Sitio San Joseph, Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City with a land area of 1,289.10 square meters. It was established in 1970’s through the initiative of Mr. Agapito Caritativo who was the first teacher of the school during that time. During the early years of its establishment, only male teachers are assigned in the school beacause of its far distance from the city proper.
The school is one of the far flung schools in the Division of Antipolo City which is approximately about 24 kilometers away from the division office. It was formerly a satellite school of Kay Sakat Elementary School in which during 1990’s was still part of Teresa-Antipolo District. It was in 2003 when it was transferred to the new Division of Antipolo City and became a part of District II-C. It became an independent and complete elementary in 2004 and was handled by a teacher-in-charge in the person of Dr. Ferdinand B. Millan. During the month of May 2006, it was passed to the leadership of Mrs. Elvira S. Teston as its new teacher-in-charge. Afterwards, in July of 2007, the school was turned over to the leadership of Mr. Anselmo C. Celeste Jr. as it became also a part of District II-D. After 2 years, a new teacher-in-charge in the person of Dr. Mervin C. Tortoza was assigned to the school. His leadership existed until July of 2011. Followed by Mrs. Erwena J. Corvera in the year 2012-2013 and Mr. Celso R. Bagunu during the year 2013-2014.
At present, the school caters 346 pupils with 8 National teachers, 1 Kinder volunteer teacher and managed by Head Teacher Dr. Maricel R. Tortoza. They are utilizing 3 school buildings which are 4-room 2-storey Principal Led Bldg., 3-room Sumulong Type Bldg., and 3-room Bagong Lipunan Bldg.
